Mobile UX/UI Designer

The Role

We are looking for a lead mobile UX/UI designer to join our team in Kampala, Uganda. You will be responsible for all aspects of design as Numida works to fundamentally change the way small business finance is done in Africa. Ideally, you’ve lived or worked in a developing community before or you are passionate about using good design principles to solve systemic problems that keep people poor.

Your ResponsibilitIes

  • Develop interaction designs, visual designs, and branding for the product and the company
  • Incorporate user feedback, product requirements, and intuition into the design process
  • Test prototypes and mock-ups with users in the real world to validate design decisions
  • Work with the Product Manager to design new features based on user needs and behaviours
  • Create assets needed by the company including user flows, app screens, error states, icons, logos, promotional material, and much more
  • Ensure consistency across all product and marketing communications

Skills & Qualifications

  • 2+ years of mobile product design experience
  • Knowledgeable of good UX design practices and tools including personas, user stories and usability testing
  • High level of empathy and listening skills; you are patient enough to truly understand our users realities
  • Strong UI sense, and an incredible attention to detail
  • Well versed with design tools such as Sketch, InVision, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Able to work full-time in Kampala, Uganda for at least the first 3 months with the potential to work remotely afterward
